about

Avenue One’s eponymous debut in 2001 was a convergence of styles that rendered an undisguishable experience. Recorded over the course of two years, the album represents the syncopation of over 20 musicians and engineers in an attempt to bring the spectral ideas of John Hornak and Michael Owen (reelaudiowavetransfer) to fruition. The recording sessions were conducted in every conceivable recording condition using a plethora of vintage preamps and microphones recorded.

2001 saw the entrance of Sam Kohn (The Watchmen) to complete the collective. After a few months the many that amounted to only three, devoted their time to the recording, mixing, mastering, remixing, remastering process.

Live, the band never provided the same show twice. Dissipating, score by score through the bands repertoire in an experience that has been described as “hypnotic orchestral noise”, they prefered to think of it more as mantra.

Avenue One is no longer an a band but lucky they have left wondering record in their wake.
